Steamboat in the Summertime!
Visitors to Steamboat Springs during the summer months will find one of the most beautiful green valleys on earth. While enjoying a clear, dry high-desert climate, the Yampa Valley is lush with the runoff of 27 feet of winter snowfall, nourishing meadows and forests of aspen and fir.
The community is host to numerous events throughout summer and into fall, including Rainbow Weekend, with Art-in-the-Park, the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and other attractions... the Steamboat Springs ProRodeo Series all summer long...a down home Fourth of July celebration with parade, fireworks and Cowboy Roundup Days Rodeo...Strings in the Mountains music series and other musical events from classical to country to rock 'n' roll to folk...and a Brewfest weekend as the fall colors reach their peak.
Our rivers and dozens of high country lakes provide some of the world's finest trout fishing. Tubing and kayaking are also popular along the Yampa River, which flows right through downtown Steamboat Springs. Steamboat is surrounded by millions of acres of National Forest and the Zirkel and Flat Tops Wilderness Areas, all of which can be explored on foot or by horseback. Outfitters and sporting goods stores throughout the area will get you started.
